Getting Ready for Rome and Puglia

 Ciao,

We're back and getting ready for another travel adventure.  We're heading to Rome on October 6 (direct flight arriving on October 7) and returning to Toronto on October 30.  We'll be spending six nights in the Eternal City, which we haven't visited since 2012.

We then travel by train between cities.  On October 13, we head to Trani, our first stop in Puglia for two nights, then on to Monopoli for three nights, Martina Franca for three nights, Lecce for five nights and we end our travels in Bari for four nights.  We are planning a number of day trips to Alberobello, Polignano a Mare, Ostuni, Matera, and Galipoli.  We fly back to Toronto on October 30 via Munich.

We're looking forward to some beautiful weather, a return to Rome and exploration of Puglia, a wonderful area of Italy, which we have not visited before.

Allan will be "Alonso" again in Italy.

Please check our blog from time to time to follow our adventure.  I'll most likely do the first post from Rome on October 8, once we have a chance to settle in.

Here's a taste of what's to come.

We are staying in the Trastevere neighbourhood in Rome.

Looking forward to the Campo di Fiori market in Rome

Our guidebook says there are hundreds of towns in Puglia all worth a visit for their artistic treasures and archeological sites.  It was a challenge figuring out what towns to stay in and what towns to visit on day trips.  They all look wonderful.

  1. I especially look forward to seeing your photos of Matera which seems to have been the filming location of Pier Paolo Pasolini's The Gospel According to St. Matthew. (Leave it to a Communist to create one of the most honest and moving depictions of the life of Christ.)

    Buon viaggio amici!
